Spirit - definition and explanation
A Spirit refers to a spiritual being or ghost
A Spirit or spiritual being is a non-physical entity mentioned in many religions and cultures throughout the world. Spirit and soul are often interconnected, with the difference that a spirit does not necessarily have to linked to a human being or other a physical entity.
It is often thought that spirits are on the same plane of existence as gods but of lesser magnitude they are sometimes thought of as lesser gods or messengers of god. (Angels)
Nature religions believe that everything has a spirit or Soul (trees, water, mountains). These religions normally know many rituals to communicate and appease these spirits.
Spirits have been ascribed many powers over humans and nature and often they are believed to be linked to creation.
Spirits are also believed to be capable to possess humans and control them.
